Imagine walking along a beach with the softest, fine sand under your feet. Now add towering, colorful rock formations that create stunning natural backdrops, and you’ve got Oregon’s coastline. Some beaches have dark sand, others are lined with smooth black rocks, and one had a shore made entirely of tiny, colorful stones. Sure, those little rocks weren’t the friendliest to bare feet, but they were breathtaking nonetheless.
And the surprises don't stop there. While vacationing in Oregon, I was truly in awe to discover a few beaches were dotted with clear jellyfish—something I’d never seen before! I wasn’t sure whether to be terrified or fascinated, but I learned dead jellyfish don’t sting (thankfully). Best of all, the beaches were nearly deserted, giving my dogs the freedom to run and play as though the entire coast belonged to them.
This end-of-summer road trip was my first time in Oregon. How crazy is that? With all the traveling I’ve done, I’d somehow never made it to a place I’d been dying to visit. But now, I can’t wait to go back.
As I wandered those beaches, I couldn’t resist pulling out my camera to capture the magic—mostly of my dogs bounding through the sand, the vibrant backdrops, and the peaceful, almost otherworldly rich beauty The above image of View in a down, may have been his protest to leaving, I don't remember. Anyway, I haven’t stopped thinking about those beaches since, and I’m already dreaming of returning to take a zillion more photos!
I hope to make Oregon an annual summer road trip for my dogs to enjoy the beaches, for my mental health to have a week of calmness, and of course to photograph the beauty of Oregon!
If you're in Oregon (or planning to be), let’s chat! I’d love to plan a one-of-a-kind summer portrait session for your dog on one of these incredible beaches. Just reach out below to get started.
